Functional Trimming

The functional trim isn't just about your Equine's feet, but also what shaped them.

Your equine's hooves reflect their environment, diet, physiology, and partnership style with you, their person. This holistic view of the hoof and equine is central to the functional trim.

This approach to barefoot trimming is dynamic: it holds each equine and hoof as unique. It's the practitioner's job to see what nature intended your equine's hooves to be, while working with the hoof in its current state. In this way, Kabryna knows where the hoof's progress is likely headed, while addressing its needs while getting there.

It's important to Kabryna to be a part of your equine's care team, and above all, for her clients to be able to enjoy their equine in health and wellness. She will create a care plan based on what's accessible and one that integrates each element of functional horse care.

Kabryna is a certified FHHC practitioner.

Balanced hooves is an Equines inherent right, and gives their body the exact kind of support they need for their lifestyle and conformation.

How It Works

After years of study, field hours, and mentorships, a FHHC practitioner follows specific steps in providing your equine a functional trim.

After years of study, field hours, and mentorships, a FHHC practitioner follows specific steps in providing your horse a functional trim.

Step 1:

Assess the hoof, Document

Kabryna will observe your horse's movement, the overall shape of their hooves, and take pictures of the hooves that will need careful tracking.

Step 2:

sighting & Trim

At this point, Kabryna will get to work on the hooves.

Each one will be prepared for proper "sighting", a process that involves identifying the wear patterns, growth, and overall balance of the hoof. This step gives Kabryna all she needs to know about the hoof in front of her.

Based on her findings, she will trim each hoof for optimal balance and function.

Step 3:

Review findings

& answer questions

Kabryna will review with you any notable findings, and how to best address them. This will include discussions about your horse's best trimming cycle.

You are also welcomed to ask questions! It's important to Kabryna to be a part of your care team, and that means meaningful conversations.

"Kabryna is an exceptional trimmer. My young gelding had been trimmed into a club foot by the previous farrier, along with a nasty case of thrush. Within two trims, his feet were dramatically improved and he was moving much more comfortably. I'm not sure anyone else could have achieved that as skillfully and efficiently as Kabryna did. She has a customer for life with me!"
